An artful home or office is a happy, inspiring, and calming place to live and work.

I have been making art since I was a kid and have explored many art forms including 3D Sculpture and have circled back to oil painting, the place I began making art as a teenager.

I have always been drawn to creating rooms no matter what medium I have been working in. Why? Because I love interior spaces. I have always enjoyed building miniature spaces and now spend my time creating large paintings of interiors.

When you are sitting in a space looking at one of my paintings you will be looking into a painted treat of form, light and color, you might find this relaxing, inspiring. My paintings have a mystical, whimsical, and fun feel to them. They are happy paintings.

Do you need some inspiration on how to choose, buy, or hang art in your home or office to reflect your aesthetic and style? My fun blogs posts are chock full of clever ideas and helpful tips on how and where, to buy art and why buying and hanging art will beautify your spaces and enhance your life.

Why Do I Paint?

I have always been a maker and I am compelled to create. I love getting into a flow state which is a peaceful and creative place to be. My paintings capture that feeling and I want to share that with others through my artwork.

My Process

Although I am very creative, I am also very methodical and process driven. I have a system that I follow to create my paintings.

  1. I compose, or if lucky, capture a photo of an interior that speaks to me.
  2. I print my photo onto a piece of paper.
  3. From the printed photo, I draw the scene in my sketchbook. This helps me to get the composition blocked out and imprint the light and values onto my brain.
  4. Then, depending on the size of the painting, I draw or project the image onto my canvas and then draw it.
  5. Once I’ve sketched out my drawing, I paint the underpainting in acrylic fluorescent colors. Sometimes I scrape through the painting down to the fluorescent layer to pull out a pop of color.
  6. I paint with oils on top of the underpainting. Sometimes, I stay true to the original colors in the image I am working from and other times my subconscious chooses other colors and I just go with it to a usually delightful end!
